The Starvation Army Band

The Audience for our International Day of Peace Program
on 9/21 will be Passionate, Smart, and Perceptive;
They Deserve some Great Musical Entertainment

Aaron Baker
On Monday -- after the echoes of the drum circle have faded away and before we commence with our program on police & community relations -- we will get a chance to enjoy a new phenomenon on the Oklahoma music scene:

The Starvation Army Band

The band is Aaron Baker, Jonathan Marshall, and Terry Craghead. They call themselves, "The best of world-changing music from Oklahoma's radical roots."

You might have seen them perform at the Rally for Diplomacy last month at the State Capitol. Or maybe you enjoyed the program they offered at Oklahoma City's Church of the Open Arms: "Singing History: The American Story You Aren't Taught in School."

Jonathan Marshall
The band is attracting a following. They were featured in a recent article that appeared on The Red Dirt Report. Their music includes songs from Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan, and Oklahoma’s very own Woody Guthrie. They also cover songs written by more contemporary singer-songwriters, including Dave Rovics, Maria Dunn and John Prine.

Jonathan Marshall sings and plays banjo, guitar, fiddle and bass. He is a local educator.

Aaron Baker is a guitarist and singer.

Terry Craghead sings and drums.

Because of time constraints, we'll only get to enjoy a small sampling of the band's immense talent. Even so, we think their performance will be memorable.

We appreciate so much that they have chosen to contribute their unique abilities to our program.

The program will take place at Oklahoma City University in the Tom & Brenda McDaniel University Center. The best parking will be in one of the lots on North Florida Avenue, approaching the campus from NW 27th Street.

Here is a map showing the location of the center:
